Any one have/use britelyte lanterns and stoves?

http://store.britelyt.com/servlet/-s...lantern/Detail

These are true multifuel lanterns and stoves. Diesel, Kerosene, Citroela, Gas, Alcohol..

I am considering buying one of their lanterns and one of the stoves.

Always wanted to get one. Really good youtube video's of people running kerosene through them. These really will run on ANYTHING!

Nope, my "survival stove" is the Sierra Zip Stove, burns any fuel found lying on the forest floor ...

I looked at those, along with some others of similar design, but the need for batteries and the fact that they had moving parts was a killer for me.

I also stock a fair amount of diesel, so these fit the bill perfectly.

Looks like a flimsy piece of crap to me.....prolly ok for S'Mores :565:

I'm half ass kiddy Minimus so don't get POed at me.....but it does look flimsy, and I wouldn't want to hafta rely on that puney little blower but the price is reasonable and if it gets the job done who gives a shite.....it probably fits the bill for back packers. Thanks for the post.

HEY Techguy the britelite appears to be a top notch piece of equipment albeit a bit pricey ......looks like Ag_Man is taking one for the team, from looks alone I think he's going to be very happy with his purchase.....we'll see:ok:

Order placed for the stove, will write a review in this thread when I fire it up.

I am going to save up and buy one of the lanterns...

Those are too pretty to box up. That is going to have to go on display somewhere!

Nice to find a nice piece of quality USA made gear.

Thanks Ag-Man.. Let us know.

Its one of the most used stoves for the demanding AT thru hiker, this model is made of titanium.

18,000 btu burner (about twice that of a liquid fuel stove), runs about 6 hrs on a "AA" battery, about 35 hrs on a "D" cell. Will run without battery in emergency.

I don't like plugged up petrol stove generators either ...

Those brytelight stoves look really nice. I was about to order one from survivalunlimited.com (from brytelight's website), but they are not going to stock them anymore. I asked why and they said too many customers were returning them because fuel kept leaking out of them. Bummer.

Re: Any one have/use britelyte lanterns and stoves?

I've had a Britelyt 500 candlepower lantern for a couple years. It initially worked great, but now makes a nice flame plume when I try to start it up.

I've tried putting fresh kerosene in it, replacing the needle & chanting not-so-vague obscenities while lighting it....the sucker still flames up.

In my "copious free time", I'll try scrubbing out carbon deposits from the vaporizer tube to see if that helps.

If all else fails, I've read that if you return it to Britelyt, they'll diagnose/fix it for just the cost of parts.

It is definitely BRIGHT, and I need to get off my rear end & get the thing fixed.

As to these lanterns being able to burn "anything", I'm still a bit dubious of that claim. Yes, they can probably burn gasoline. Can they do it safely, though?

My dubiosity (if that's even a word!) is based on reading I've done on various Petromax lantern sites. The Britelyt is apparently a slightly modified Petromax lantern.

Google for all the gory details. Here's one link to start:

(especially note the stuff near the bottom re: "Petromax explosion").

Generator/vaporizer ... like I said, its the Achilles heel of pressure stoves.
